IRU has awarded the prestigious IRU Diploma of Honour to 1,847 outstanding bus, coach, taxi, and truck drivers from 23 countries worldwide in recognition of their remarkable driving and safety achievements.

Every year, the IRU Presidential Executive awards the prestigious IRU Diploma of Honour to drivers from different countries worldwide for their exemplary driving and safety records.

To qualify for the award, each recipient must have driven at least 1 million kilometres during a career spanning over 20 years, maintaining an impeccable record without causing an accident or committing any serious traffic violations, customs or administrative infractions. These drivers represent the high standards of professionalism and training that IRU champions through the IRU Academy, serving as role models for both current and future generations of drivers.

Recognising the exceptional professionalism displayed by this year’s winners, IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto said, “Congratulations to all the recipients of the 2024 IRU Diploma of Honour. Your flawless driving and safety records reflect the high level of professionalism that defines our sector.”

“It is the unwavering dedication and commitment of professional drivers that keeps the world in motion, quietly serving people and communities, day in and day out. They are the unsung heroes of our time, and they deserve to be recognised as such,” he added.
