25 Mar 2025 · Corporate

IRU, the world road transport organisation, welcomes leading global logistics provider DP World as its newest member.

DP World has joined IRU to advance the efficient and sustainable flow of goods via road transport.

Together with IRU, DP World will advocate for the enabling decarbonisation conditions needed to achieve net-zero while continuing to ensure the seamless flow of goods across regions.

With a strong European fleet and an expanding network of freight forwarding services, driving sustainability policies and solutions at the EU level is pivotal for DP World to continue its journey to net-zero.

DP World also seeks to share knowledge and best practices, particularly in sustainability, with IRU’s extensive global network and contribute to road transport research and intelligence.

IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto said, “We are delighted to welcome DP World into the IRU family.

“Together, we can drive pragmatic and efficient sustainability solutions towards net-zero, including eco-driving training, as outlined in our Green Compact.”

“Producing advanced intelligence on our sector and its future is another area where we can make significant progress together,” he added.

DP World Vice President Commercial Freight Europe & Head of Commercial (Contract Logistics, Freight, and Terminals) Cluster Central Europe Sascha Tilli said, “For DP World, becoming member of the International Road Transport Union is the opportunity to increase our representation in the industry and accelerate our growth in Freight and Freight Forwarding, providing the best solutions to our clients.”

DP World Vice President Sustainability Europe Nicholas Mazzei added, “Joining IRU will facilitate our transition to a more sustainable pathway.”

DP World has a strong presence across multiple sectors, including port operations, container handling, and inland logistics.

In road transport, the company focuses on providing integrated solutions that connect ports to inland transport networks. Key activities in this sector include freight forwarding, fleet management, last-mile connectivity, and deploying innovative technology to enhance supply chain efficiency.

Founded in 1972 in the United Arab Emirates, DP World operates in 78 countries across six continents, employing over 114,000 people.
