How it all started in Zhengzhou

As Deputy Director of the Construction Bureau of the Henan Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone (ZAEZ), I’m proud to say that we’ve worked hard to make TIR operational in Zhengzhou. 

In April 2020, during the research process to promote the transformation and development of traditional freight enterprises, we learned that Zhengzhou Hongyi Transportation Company (ZZHY) was interested in conducting TIR operations. 

So we set up a special task force for industry authorities and enterprises to jointly learn and explore the international road transport model. Since Chinese transport company had yet to carry out such operations, there were no past experiences to learn from. 

By April 2021, the feasibility report on the opening of international road transport routes from Zhengzhou were completed. 

Just under a year later, in March 2022, we helped ZZHY to become the first TIR holder in the central provinces of China, and approved ZZHY’s registration application for international road transport business. 

We are now planning to build a dedicated area for TIR transport, set up a road transport supervision port, and forge an identity for Zhengzhou as the "original place" and "first city" in China to implement TIR.
