IRU’s Liaison Committee to Eurasia (CLEA), promoting trade and transport between Europe and Asia, has elected a new board for the next three-year term.
Meeting in a hybrid format, the Committee unanimously elected Sanjar Pulatov (AIRCUZ, Uzbekistan) as its President, and Iulian Postică (AITA, Moldova) and Siyovush Shokirov (ABBAT, Tajikistan) as its two Vice-Presidents for the 2022-2024 term of office.
Representatives of the Transport and Communications Agency of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, as well as IRU corporate members from China, CEVA logistics and ZZHY attended the meeting.
IRU members considered the impact of trade and transport disruptions on the road transport sector, especially in light of the war in Ukraine. They discussed the revitalisation of alternative transport and transit corridors, and the use of navigations seals for goods road transport. Finally, members reviewed the results of the 2022 global survey on driver shortage.
The IRU Liaison Committee to Eurasia supported IRU’s emergency resolution “Powering road transport” to be adopted by the General Assembly, and took decisions on the next steps towards growing TIR and digital TIR expansion.
