IRU will be at Busworld Europe, unpacking the latest trends and regulations on decarbonisation, driver shortages and rest time rules in the road passenger transport sector.
Busworld Europe, the largest business-to-business exhibition in the world dedicated exclusively to bus and coach, is taking place in Brussels from 7 to 12 October 2023.
IRU will host, moderate and feature in various panel discussions on key challenges facing the bus and coach sector, providing a platform to exchange knowledge and foster collaboration among industry professionals.
- Raluca Marian, IRU's Director of EU Advocacy, will speak on the IRU panel on driver shortages in the road passenger transport industry – moderated by Anna Grönlund, Deputy Managing Director of the Swedish Bus and Coach Federation, and Vice President of IRU’s Passenger Transport Council – on 10 October 2023, from 14:00 to 16:00. We will also share the updated 2023 driver shortage figures and forecasts that are included in our upcoming annual driver shortage report.
- Stasa Mrdovic, IRU Manager – Passenger Transport, will moderate the session on Zero Emission Coach Ecosystem – Technological Challenges and Business Adaptations (Infrastructure Focus) on 12 October, from 11:50 to 12:50. The panel will look at the opportunities and challenges facing the emerging market of zero-emission coach infrastructure, specifically focusing on the availability of infrastructure, recharging time, grid capacity, vehicle range, and the emergence of new business models.
- Oleg Kamberski, IRU’s Senior Consultant – Social Affairs, will partake in the session on the future of coach tourism and discuss the EU's driving and rest time regulations for coach drivers on Thursday 12 October, from 14:00 to 18:00. Oleg Kamberski’s presentation will highlight the specificity of coach tourism as a people’s business and how the current EU rules can be adapted to suit group tourism by coach (same registration link as first event).
