Armenia has said ‘yes’ to road transport digitalisation.
The digital protocol to the United Nations CMR convention for international road goods transport, e-CMR, entered into force in Armenia last week, setting a legal foundation for fully paperless road freight in the country. Armenia is the 39th country to join e-CMR.
The positive momentum continues following the accessions of Italy, Austria and Hungary to e-CMR over the past three months.
The switch from paper-based to fully digital consignment notes will boost the efficiency and safety of goods transport across Armenia and, ultimately, into neighbouring countries.
By eliminating paperwork, e-CMR lowers handling costs, ends administrative and invoicing delays, and reduces discrepancies at delivery sites.
e-CMR also elevates transparency and security across the entire logistics chain. It provides more accurate data to track shipments with real-time pick-up and delivery information.
IRU and its members will continue to promote e-CMR as a critical tool to enhance the speed, efficiency and security of trade and logistics.
