Together with ITS organisations, government and industry, IRU has developed an online training platform with courses tackling all aspects related to the understanding, implementation and use of ITS and C-ITS. The courses are freely available and address different types of audiences – from beginner level to advanced level of understanding of ITS and C-ITS.
The CAPITAL Online Training Platform comprises 9 online courses on the following topics:
• Introduction to ITS and C-ITS
• ITS and C-ITS user services
• Traffic Management Center and roadside technologies for ITS
• Standards, architectures and communication technologies for ITS and C-ITS
• Impact assessment of ITS and C-ITS systems
• Financial incentives and business and procurement models for C-ITS deployment
• Cost-benefit analyses of ITS services
• Guidance in deploying ITS and C-ITS
• Information security, data protection and privacy
Access to the platform is free of charge.
Anyone who is interested in learning more about ITS and C-ITS technology is encouraged to enroll in the courses available.
Users also have access to video materials, knowledge-testing materials, and support materials.
Project partners are continuously working on updating the platform.
CAPITAL
ITS and C-ITS Capacity Building for the Future of Mobility
CapITal - Collaborative capacity programme on ITS Training-education and liaison
Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) are emerging technologies which will ensure a safer, more connected, and more efficient future for road mobility.
The CapITal project gathers a community of professionals active in the fields of ITS & C-ITS from both private and public sectors. This community working on identifying knowledge gaps related to the implementation of these technologies. The ultimate goal is to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for the deployment of ITS and C-ITS, while at the same time raising awareness of the benefits and services currently available – and new paths opening up - for further career development.
IRU's role
IRU has been analysing the potential of ITS and C-ITS applications and their benefits for the road transport sector for years. The IRU report “Commercial Vehicle of the Future” (2017) highlights the role ITS and C-ITS will play in achieving fully sustainable truck operations.
In the development of training courses, recommendations and materials, IRU relies on the expertise of its members, its Research and Innovation team, and the perspectives of road transport operators and professional drivers. Two of the courses available on the project’s online training platform are taught by IRU staff members.
