With the globalisation of economic and social activities, crimes against the road transport industry are constantly increasing. The IRU therefore recommends the improvement of preventive measures, including fraud and crime prevention practices and drivers training as a response against the globalisation of crime. Trade facilitation is the only way to effectively lower crime rates and ensure the security of passengers, drivers, vehicles and cargo, while benefiting the Common Transit and TIR Systems, as well as cooperation between the different bodies and transport modes.
