IRU Position on the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Carriage of Goods Wholly or Partly By Sea (The Rotterdam Rules), (2009)

This IRU Position calls on governments not to ratify the new Rotterdam Rules, the provisions of which are extremely detrimental to the road transport industry and other means of land transport while exposing some governments to a dual violation of international law. The Rotterdam Rules threaten the uniform application of the laws governing land transport and in particular the regulations related to national and international road transport contracts.
