IRU Position on advanced accident prevention systems for heavy commercial vehicles, (2009)

True to its commitment to road safety, the IRU supports all road safety measures that effectively target the main cause of accidents involving heavy commercial vehicles, provided that they are based on transparent and industry-wide cost benefit and operational analysis. The IRU recommends that all accident avoidance systems be harmonised and standardised before being distributed on the market, and should remain optional.
