The TIR route from Pakistan to Moscow has been successfully tested with a first load of fresh fruit delivered to Moscow this week.
Pointing to a huge potential boost to Pakistani fresh fruit and vegetable trade with Russia, the TIR journey cut transit time by up to 76% in comparison to the traditional sea route.
The truck, carrying fresh mangos, travelled from Pakistan to Russia via Iran and Azerbaijan, delivering the goods to Moscow in seven days. Conducted jointly by Pakistani and Iranian logistic and transport operators, it demonstrated the first seamless transport from Pakistan to Russia along the International North South Transport Corridor (INSTC).
IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto said "South Asian and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) markets are now better connected thanks to TIR. As it has elsewhere, TIR will continue boosting trade with faster and more secure transits, advancing peace and prosperity in the region."
Crown 3PL Service (Moscow) CEO Fazal Hussain Yousofzai said "This new route has proven that transit time and cost can be reduced. Now Pakistani fruits and vegetables can reach global markets more quickly." Crown 3PL Service launched a regular intermodal TIR route between Moscow and the UAE in March this year.
Pooyesh Khorasan International Transport Company (Iran) General Director Armin Doostkhah said, "The INSTC corridor has great potential for transit. This transport shows that the route is safe, secure, shorter and less expensive and could be a game changer for transit and trade in the region."
