Behind every well-stocked shelf and timely delivery this Ramadan, there’s a truck driver pushing forward. In this guest article, Phillip Khoury, Managing Director of Dubai-based transport and logistics company ADSO, pays homage to the resilience and dedication of truck drivers.
While highways are quiet at sunset during the holy month of Ramadan, truck drivers are working harder than ever. You’ll often see them breaking their fast by the side of their trucks before resuming their long journeys.
During this time of the year, cross-border movements surge as businesses race to meet deadlines before the Eid Al Fitr holidays. For truck drivers, the road is filled with more than just congestion. Along with ongoing challenges like long border delays and heat, they are also fasting during daylight hours.
While most people have shorter hours during Ramadan, our truck drivers work even longer hours. Meeting deadlines becomes even more challenging, yet our drivers rise to the occasion.
Despite these obstacles, our drivers remain committed. They do far more than transport goods – they deliver under pressure. Their dedication ensures that goods reach their destination on time, even in the face of adversity. They are the backbone of society and the logistics industry.
This Ramadan, let’s take a moment to recognise and appreciate their dedication and hard work. Our drivers are not just delivering goods, they keep the wheels of society and commerce turning, sacrificing themselves for us.
Their unmatched commitment makes all the difference. A simple gesture of gratitude – a wave or a nod – can go a long way in acknowledging their hard work. Let’s honour their unwavering commitment and ensure they are seen, valued and respected.
