Pakistan’s National Logistics Corporation (NLC) has demonstrated that transporting goods from Kashgar, China, to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, does not have to take 30 days.
IRU member NLC has concluded the first operation from the Kashgar TIR Logistics Hub to Dubai, connecting China with the Gulf Cooperation Council region more efficiently.
TIR vehicles carrying electronic equipment departed from the hub after finalising export customs clearance and TIR formalities, exiting through the Khunjerab Pass. The cargo was then transported by sea from Pakistan’s Port of Karachi to Dubai. The journey took only 15 days, as opposed to 30 days by sea.
NLC’s representative in China noted the route's potential for the company, targeting more than 1,000 vehicles per year.
The Kashgar TIR hub
The IRU-accredited Kashgar TIR Logistics Hub, the first of its kind to open in China, integrates all transit services under one roof, streamlining operations for transport companies and supply chain players.
According to Wu Zhigang, the head of the Kashgar TIR Logistics, new routes to Turkmenistan and Europe are planned for 2025. Regular TIR operations already serve Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
Since the launch of the Kashgar TIR hub in May 2024, four additional hubs have opened in Urumqi, Zhengzhou, Shenyang and Chengdu.
