The FREENOW app provides multiple mobility choices to its users across Europe.
FREENOW, Europe’s multi-mobility app with taxis at its core, has joined IRU as its newest member.
FREENOW offers users access to various mobility options – taxis, car-sharing, car rentals, e-scooters, e-mopeds, e-bikes as well as public transport – through just one app. The platform integrates with several external mobility providers and local public transport systems to offer seamless, flexible and reliable mobility solutions.
The platform was founded 15 years ago as Europe’s first taxi app. FREENOW’s taxi offering continues to be its core foundation and strategic focus.
IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto said, “We are very pleased to have FREENOW join the IRU family. Their services allow people find the most suitable type of transport for their mobility needs. We look forward to working together and advancing safe, practical and sustainable mobility solutions to people across Europe.”
“The global IRU family stands to benefit greatly from their expertise in transport digitalisation,” he added.
FREENOW CEO Thomas Zimmermann said, “We are delighted to join IRU and become part of a global association gathering experts from the mobility and logistics sectors. This is a significant step for FREENOW as we reinforce our focus on our core taxi business. We advocate for the taxi industry across Europe and are dedicated to supporting policies that help it to continue to thrive.”
“By joining IRU and its Taxi Group, we aim to strengthen efforts to consistently uphold the highest professional standards and regulatory framework for the taxi industry across Europe,” he added.
Available in more than 150 cities across Europe, FREENOW plans to expand its services and digital mobility solutions to meet the growing demand for green, reliable and accessible urban transport.
With its headquarters based in Germany, FREENOW is backed by its shareholders, the BMW Group and Mercedes-Benz Mobility.
