3 - 5 Dec 2024

POLITICO Sustainable Future Week

Brussels (hybrid) | IRU participation

The EU Green Deal is turning five. This landmark mission is now entering its second phase: implementation across member states, with a big shift on industrial policy and competitiveness. Backlash against further green policies from some civil society sectors and businesses has also risen in the EU capital before the European election, planting the seed for further debate on which direction the EU should be taking.

The clock is ticking, and politicians are playing catch up on changes that are not waiting for them.

An established gathering for key politicians, scientists, campaigners, and business executives, the sixth POLITICO Sustainable Future Week will take a look at the scrutiny and dissent surge underscoring the critical juncture facing the EU’s trajectory towards a greener and more competitive future.

From 3 to 5 December , journalists will delve into climate policy on the backdrop of elections, farmers protests and COP29, mobility, the investments needed for cleaner and more competitive technologies, energy and much more.

On 4 December, IRU Director of EU Advocacy & General Delegate Raluca Marian will be speaking at the Sustainable Future week organised by Politico. She will be giving the opening remarks to the spotlight discussion outlook on alternative fuels, from 11:50 to 12:25.
