Ran Wang has taken the reigns of IRU’s regional office in Beijing, China, overseeing East and Southeast Asia.
With nearly 20 years of experience in cross-border transport, Ran Wang has an in-depth understanding of the industry and IRU’s membership network in the region, the global TIR transit system, and China-Eurasia connectivity.
He will lead IRU’s activities in East and Southeast Asia and work with IRU members as well as public and private partners to advance the development of TIR services and corridors from and to China.
IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto said, “We are delighted to see Ran assume the role of IRU Chief Representative of East and Southeast Asia. His extensive knowledge of cross-border trade will allow him to excel in this role and continue to grow TIR in China and the region.”
Ran Wang holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the Capital University of Economics and Business and a master’s degree in accounting from the Tianjin University of Finance and Economics.
He started his career in customs, where he worked for 13 years. He also worked on government-enterprise cooperation and cross-border e-commerce promotion as a government affairs expert for the Alibaba Group.
Ran Wang joined IRU as an external affairs manager in December 2018, before being promoted to senior adviser in 2023. During this time, he steered IRU’s external relations with key partners in the region, with a special focus on advancing trade facilitation and the TIR system.
