Iran’s main road transport association has joined IRU as its newest member.
The International Transport Companies Association of Iran (ITCAI) advocates for the facilitation of transport and transit along international corridors crossing Iran.
ITCAI also focuses on further formalising the road transport sector and promoting professional qualifications. It works closely with the Ministry of Transport on road permits and visa procedures for professional drivers as well as with customs and other relevant authorities on border-crossing challenges.
IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto said, “We are pleased to welcome ITCAI into the IRU family. The international road transport sector will benefit greatly from ITCAI’s decades-long expertise in streamlining transit and border crossings. Smoother transport corridors mean faster, cheaper and more sustainable regional and global trade.”
ITCAI Secretary General Behnam Faramarzian said, “We are delighted to join the world road transport organisation, IRU.”
“We joined IRU to strengthen our efforts in two areas. Firstly, continuing to enhance transit and TIR services along international transport corridors crossing Iran, including by harmonising border-crossing processes. Secondly, to further professionalise the road transport sector with the IRU Academy,” he added.
Founded in 1969, ITCAI has over 680 active members from different sectors of the Iranian transport industry.
