With the current outbreak of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) continuing to evolve, IRU remains committed to working together with relevant stakeholders and authorities to keep its staff, members and the transport community safe.
Close cooperation is vital to ensuring that the road transport industry can effectively contribute to the containment of COVID-19 with an international transport response that is measured, consistent and proportionate to the public health risk, pursuant to the latest WHO advice.
We are working closely with all those affected by the current situation to make sure that the required health measures are implemented in ways that help contain the virus and, at the same time, minimise unnecessary disruptions to international traffic and trade.
We are closely monitoring the status of border crossings in affected areas around the world, including the recent announcement by the Turkish authorities of their decision to close the country’s borders. We will provide updates on this and other developments as they arise via the global IRU member network. Please consult IRU's flash info.
At this difficult time, IRU joins the international community’s efforts to stand in solidarity with all those affected by COVID-19 and will continue to keep its members informed of the latest updates. For general advice, please visit the WHO web site.
