Xinjiang International Land Port Group has joined IRU, the world road transport organisation, as its newest member.
Founded in 2018, Xinjiang International Land Port specialises in modern logistics, international trade and supply chain finance.
It was established to support the Xinjiang region’s strategy of opening up to the west and promoting land connectivity with countries along China's Belt and Road Initiative.
Xinjiang International Land Port has been developing, expanding and innovating its international road transport services under the TIR system. It conducted China’s first “cross-border e-commerce (9610) + TIR operation” in 2020.
IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto said, “Xinjiang International Land Port has been advancing TIR services in China for some years now. We’re very pleased that they have decided to join IRU.”
“Together, we can develop new secure trade corridors under TIR from the Xinjiang region, which borders Central Asian countries and serves as China’s vital gateway to the west,” he added.
Xinjiang International Land Port Group General Manager Gang LI said, “In recent years, we have been actively strengthening economic and trade cooperation with countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt, advancing the development of a cross-border logistics transport system, and aiming to establish an international logistics hub and supply chain organisation centre.”
“After several years of fruitful collaboration with IRU, we are delighted to now be part of the family,” he added.
Xinjiang International Land Port also operates the Urumqi Multimodal Transportation Center, the only entity with the designated regulatory qualification to import meat in Urumqi, the region’s capital. It is now using the TIR system to efficiently import frozen meat products.
