Regional Cooperation Mechanism on Low Carbon Transport: East and North-East Asia, North and Central Asia Subregional Consultation and Capacity Building Workshop
The event will be held from 21 to 22 June 2023, 9:00 - 16:30 (GMT +6) in ESCAP Subregional Office for North and Central Asia, Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Following the launch of the ESCAP Regional Cooperation Mechanism on Low Carbon Transport in August 2022, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is conducting a series of subregional consultation and capacity building workshops to mobilize transport ministries and key stakeholders in the Asia-Pacific region to engage in the transport and climate change policy process and to help advance the goals of the Paris Agreement through transport strategies. This proposed activity is aligned with the objectives of the Regional Action Programme for Sustainable Transport Development in Asia and the Pacific (2022–2026) and will contribute directly to its implementation.
This workshop will focus on the identification of subregional low carbon transport priorities, implementation action and the development of a cooperation framework for the Regional Cooperation Mechanism on Low Carbon Transport.
Jens Hügel, IRU Senior Adviser - Global Advocacy, will be part of the Session 4 on Global and Regional Low Carbon Transport Initiatives staring at 14:45 (GMT +6) on 21 June 2023.
