Poland-Belarus: Update on border regulations and processes

The Government of Belarus has issued Regulation dated of 17 February 2023 No. 133, which amends the Regulation dated of 22 April 2022 No. 247 “On the movement of vehicles”.

Notably, the document updates the list of medical products which are exempt from this regulation. Also, the amendments to the regulation require that vehicles registered in Poland enter the territory of Belarus for operations with cargo, and/or trailer swap, as well as for fuelling, if necessary, in specially designated areas and leave such areas only through the border crossing points located on the Polish-Belarusian border.

After recent closure of the border crossing point Bobrovniki (POL) – Berestovica (BLR) for all traffic, there is only one border crossing still operational on POL-BLR border for freight transport which is Kozlovichi (BLR) – Kukuryki (POL).

To balance the traffic entering through the border crossings to specially designated areas for operations with cargo and trailer swap, for border crossing points “Kozlovichi” (BLR-POL border), “Privalka” and Benyakoni (BLR-LTU border) such designated areas are supplemented with the customs clearance office “Berestovica-TLC” and the parking area close to the entry into the border crossing point “Berestovica”.

The above amendments entered into force on 18 February 2023.
