Speaking today at a webinar organised by ACEA, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, and Hydrogen Europe, IRU Advocacy Director Matthias Maedge outlined the landscape for commercial road transport firms on the long term road to hydrogen as an alternative fuel.

Oman has ratified the e-CMR protocol, helping the country switch from paper-based to electronic consignment notes. This move towards fully paperless road transport operations will cut costs for transport operators and improve the efficiency and safety of goods transport.  

With the revision of the Eurovignette Directive on road user charges the subject of intense debate in the European Council, IRU has written an open letter to senior EU officials urging them to consider a well-to-wheel approach in the new text. 

IRU and 32 transport business groups and road transport associations from across Europe call on EU and UK negotiators to reach a Brexit deal for the sake of the consumers and the economy.
