Considering the huge financial and organisational investments incurred by the implementation of the digital tachograph, and following the adoption of Amendment 5 of the AETR Agreement requesting that such devices be fixed on newly registered vehicles in countries of all AETR Contracting Parties as from 16 June 2010, the IRU calls for the implementation of tolerance measures to prevent any disruption of international road traffic and the avoidance of any penalisation of drivers and transport operators with vehicles registered in non-EU countries.
