The transport industry is undergoing rapid changes, driven by technology and the ever-increasing need for sustainable solutions. So are the job qualifications and skills needed. How do we make sure supply and demand meet. Fostering a more inclusive and gender-balanced workforce is one of the solutions.
Last week, IRU and its partners from all transport modes gathered at the European Parliament for the kick-off event of the Women in Transport Talks, “Moving to the Future”, hosted by MEP Maria Grapini.
Developed under the European Commission’s Women in Transport – EU Platform for Change, Women in Transport Talks aim to increase the visibility of women in the road transport sector and their representation at all working levels.
Supported by MEP Josianne Cutajar, the discussion was divided into two sessions: “Skills of the Future” and “The Green Deal and Digitalisation”, and featured speakers including:

- Elisabeth Kotthaus, Head of Unit –Social Affairs, Passenger Rights & Equal Opportunities, European Commission, DG MOVE

- Cristina Falcone, Vice President – Public Affairs, UPS Europe
- Raluca Marian, Senior Advisor – Passenger Transport, IRU

Moving towards a more gender-balanced workforce, we provide solutions for the industry of tomorrow,” said Raluca Marian, Senior Advisor – Passenger Transport IRU.
