IRU Resolution on the fight against fraud in the road freight transport market, (2009)

The IRU considers that prevention is the most effective defence against fraudulent activities in the transport market. It calls upon transport operators to be aware of anything suspicious related to activities in transport orders, to systematically check the identity of the shipper and report any anomalies to the road transport association to which they belong. These road transport associations should conduct information campaigns amongst their members and exclude any operators that may be dishonest. The transport industry must work in collaboration with national authorities and police forces in order to be more efficient.
