Road transport in Central Asia is unique in its flexibility and agility, transforming landlocked countries into land-linked countries.
With its pivotal role in Central Asian trade and transport, Uzbekistan is at the crossroads of several major trade corridors, in particular China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
IRU welcomes the extensive efforts by Uzbekistan and joins High-level International Conference "Central Asia in the system of international transport corridors: strategic prospects and untapped opportunities" to promote the expansion of international trade corridors and closer relations between the road transport sectors in different countries.
The event is organised under the patronage of the Government of Uzbekistan and will be attended by the President of Uzbekistan H.E. Mr Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The Conference will bring together heads and representatives of foreign ministries and transport agencies, international organisations, regional development banks, business communities, transport and logistics leaders.
At the Section No.3 co-hosted by IRU, we will put a spotlight on international experience and national best practices to showcase how trade and road transport facilitation instruments in combination with digital technologies can be integrated into road transport system to ensure expansion of regional and global integration.
