The road ahead: 75 years of TIR
The Association of International Road Carriers of Uzbekistan (AIRCUZ), in partnership with IRU, is inviting all IRU members to attend the conference “International Road Transport: Driving Resilience and Prosperity. The road ahead: 75 years of TIR” in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Road transport is an essential service: no country can live without it. A majority of the region’s transport corridors are multimodal and require multiple transshipments. Therefore, resilient and sustainable connectivity needs resilient and sustainable road transport. This remains vital, especially for landlocked countries to become land-linked trading nations.
This unique conference will bring together IRU members and industry leaders from the region and beyond, international organisations, development partners and international financial institutions. Exchanges between stakeholders allow trade and logistics actors across the supply chain to overcome challenges and capitalise on opportunities to streamline international trade.
As a shining example, the event will highlight 75 years of the TIR system, the United Nations’ longest continuous public-private partnership, which has been so critical to facilitating transit and trade, increasing efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. Ultimately, enhanced “hard” infrastructure needs to be effectively coupled with “soft” infrastructure.
Participants are also cordially invited to the dinner taking take place in central Tashkent on 4 September 2024, from 19:00.
Following the conference and offering extensive networking and business matchmaking opportunities, a special tour to the heart of the ancient Silk Road, the city of Bukhara, will take place from 5 to 6 September 2024. This will include an informal roundtable on east-west and north-south connectivity on 5 September. Kindly note that the registration for the trip to Bukhara is now closed.
If you have any questions, please contact Mr Dmitriy Chubenko for AIRCUZ or Ms Valeria Popova for IRU.
